Executive Team and Board


Edward M. Durkin
President & CEO

Edward M. Durkin brings more than 28 years of financial, operating and business development experience with public and private high technology companies to TCG. In addition to working on the Company’s strategic direction and plan, he oversees TCG’s business development and corporate partnering efforts, sales and marketing initiatives, financial and administrative functions, and day-to-day operations working closely with other members of the TCG team.

Prior to TCG, Mr. Durkin served as CFO and vice president of Business Development at Incipient from 2003 until his promotion to CEO in November 2008, through a sale transaction in 2009. Mr. Durkin also served as CFO at Sockeye Networks; CFO at Open Market (NASDAQ: OMKT) until its sale in November 2001; CFO at Radview Software, where he successfully brought the Company through its initial public offering (IPO) in August 2000; CFO at StarBurst Software from 1996 until its sale in April 2000; and director of Finance and Administration at CrossComm Corporation, a publicly-held networking equipment company. He also spent 10 years at Ernst & Young LLP as a senior manager, overseeing audits and public financings of clients in a variety of industries, including many software and high technology industry clients. Mr. Durkin is on the Board of Managers at TCG and on the Board of Directors of the US Chapter of the International Data Link Society. He has also served on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Community Bancorp Inc until its acquisition by Citizens Bank in 2003, as well as on the Board of Directors of Incipient. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth cum laude, and received his CPA certification while at Ernst & Young LLP.

Michael J. Hiney
Senior Vice President & General Manager

Michael J. Hiney has more than 23 years of management and engineering experience related to tactical data link products and services to his role at TCG. As Senior Vice President and General Manager of TCG, Mr. Hiney is responsible for the operation and coordination of the program management, engineering, quality assurance, and operational/technical support functions and works with other TCG team members on corporate strategy. He ensures a strategic and customer-centric focus for all elements of TCG’s operations. Mr. Hiney also serves on the TCG Board.   Mr. Hiney formerly served as director of Engineering for TCG where he oversaw the development of TCG’s LinkPRO, BOSS, and GTS products.

Before joining TCG, Mr. Hiney was a lead engineer for Analysis and Computer Systems, Inc (ACSI) on its Enhanced JTIDS System Exerciser (EJSE) and Multi-Link System Exerciser (MLSE) products. Mr. Hiney earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Western New England College, and a MBA from Northeastern University.

Nicholas E. Kropp
Vice President, Virginia Office and Worldwide Field Operations

Nicholas E. Kropp joined TCG in 2005 and since that time has been responsible for the direct support and oversight of TCG’s leading military customers across the globe. Mr. Kropp has also been instrumental in TCG’s growth, including TCG’s successful new product launches over the past several years. Mr. Kropp is also actively involved with many of TCG’s largest industry partners, and helps set TCG’s corporate and product strategy, based on his deep domain expertise and industry knowledge and close and direct involvement with TCG’s largest customers and partners.

Prior to joining TCG, Mr. Kropp had a long and successful career in the United States Air Force as a Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO), working with tactical data link implementations on some of the most important platforms and programs in the USAF. During his time in the USAF, Mr. Kropp also co-authored a book “Understanding Link 16-A Guidebook for the US Air Force.” A frequent speaker at industry events and technical forums, Mr. Kropp is a recognized subject matter expert on tactical data link applications and implementations. Mr. Kropp earned an Associates Degree from The Community College of the United States Air Force in Hydraulics and Airborne Surveillance, and has participated in many other educational training programs, including training on Joint Network Design, and Link Monitoring Systems.

Kevin J. Mawn
Vice President, Administration

Kevin J. Mawn brings more than 24 years experience in defense, commercial, and international contracting operations to TCG. As Vice President of Administration for TCG, Mr. Mawn oversees a multitude of administrative responsibilities including contract and sales administration, human resources, security, manufacturing and order fulfillment operations, and accounting and finance. Also in this role, he is involved in strategic business planning and development and works with many of TCG's largest customers on software licensing and product procurement matters. Mr. Mawn formerly served as director of Contracts for TCG.

Prior to joining TCG, Mr. Mawn spent 11 years at Pacer Infotec/AverStar until its acquisition by Titan, as the manager of Contract Administration. In this capacity, Mr. Mawn oversaw the contracting process from proposal to closeout. Prior to Averstar, Mr. Mawn was a Coordinator in production/material control at Lockheed Martin. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and an Associate’s Degree in Safety from Keene State College. Mr. Mawn is a member of the National Contract Management Association.

Frank J. Newark
Vice President, Engineering

Frank J. Newark has more than 20 years of high technology software development and technical management experience, much of which has been with tactical data link software applications. As Vice President of Engineering at TCG, Mr. Newark manages TCG’s technical development organization and is responsible for enhancing TCG’s existing market-leading line of tactical data link solutions, as well as for the development of new TCG products. Mr. Newark is also actively involved in working with many of TCG’s largest industry partners and prospects and interfaces with many of TCG’s largest customers to ensure their evolving product needs are met on a timely basis. Mr. Newark also manages TCG’s most complex technical programs and projects and, with other members to the TCG team, ensures evolving technical market requirements and market white space opportunities are factored into TCG’s corporate strategy.

Prior to joining TCG in 2001, Mr. Newark was a Project Manager/Senior Software Engineer with Infinite Technology Inc. specializing in mobile platform and telecom applications. Before this Mr. Newark served as software engineer and systems engineer with both the MITRE Corporation and Analysis and Computer Systems, Inc (ACSI) where he concentrated on data link development and integration. Mr. Newark earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Trinity College and a Master in Computer Science from Boston University.

TCG's Board of Managers is composed of seasoned and successful business executives.  In addition to Mr. Durkin and Mr. Hiney, the TCG board includes Mr. John Blais, Mr. Robert Blais, Mr. Jeff Diggins, Mr. Michael Hullinger, and Mr. Joseph Vrabel.
